Quick Overview

Sku 13119
Size 750ML
Vintage 2013

"From the Winery: Wine made from the Alvarinho (100%) grape variety. Golden yellow colour. After breathing for about half an hour the aroma of passion fruit emerges. Over the years the aroma will evolve, with tropical fruits and citrus emerging, and, after a few years, honey. On the palate it is a dry wine, with balanced acidity with alcohol and sugar. Serve at 10°C. Vinification with total destemming, one part being subject to pellicular maceration at controlled temperature, with the other part being immediately pressed. After decanting, the must is fermented at a controlled temperature, remaining on light lees until preparation for bottling. The wine comes from vineyards in Mazedo, Monção, in the Vinho Verde region, Northern Portugal. Soil of granitic origin, calc-alkaline, covered in shingle. Located about 900m from the Minho River, at an average altitude of 60 meters, on a practically plain ground. Transition to continental climate, with mild winters without snow or frost, and a hot summer with temperatures often reaching above 40°C."

Wine Enthusiast: 90 Points

Named after the 13th-century house at the center of the estate, this is a rich, full-bodied wine. With citrus flavors at its heart, it also shows a texture that gives minerality from the granite soil, followed by juicy yellow fruits and finishing with intense acidity. Give this wine until mid-2015 to settle down.
