Sangiovese Wine

Sangiovese actually means "The Blood of Jove" which presumes that Sangiovese grapes are among the earliest grape grown by the Romans. Sangiovese is Italy's most famous and extensively planted red grape variety. With its thin-skinned grape that seems to stay longer on the vine, Sangiovese takes its luscious time to ripen and age. Sangiovese grapes are much well-known in the region of Tuscany - the region noted for the production of Chianti wines. There are many variations of Sangiovese all over Italy, which produces diverse tasting wines. From the fine floral aromas to the rich dark and tannic wines, Sangiovese surely has something to offer for everyone.

What do Sangiovese Wines taste like?

Sangiovese is a dry, savory, medium-bodied red wine that has higher levels of acidity and tannins. The specific aromas and flavors of any distinct Sangiovese wine depend on where the grapes are grown and how the winemaker produces the wine. Sangiovese wines provide a broad range of tastes from earthy and rustic to floral and fruity tastes. With a glass of Sangiovese, expect hints of cherry red, sour, black, smoke and earthy herbaceousness, spicy nuances and peppery hints and even a taste of sweet tobacco. Serving it chilled helps to tone down the alcohol and tannin content while letting the florals and fruits to finish.
